Try This If You Are Ready To Live Your Life

Stop living to someone else’s expectation

I am one of those people

The “good” one who was terrified to ever step out of line regardless if I could get away with it. I learned right from wrong pretty early in life and for as long as I can remember, stayed a model citizen.

I don’t think I was unhappy. Life just felt comfortable. No particular highs or lows only routine, familiarity and predictability.

  • I did as was expected of me.
  • Spoke as was expected of me.
  • Lived as expected of me.

Now I sit at a keyboard wondering if that is it. Am I living? What is living anyway?

In her book Untamed, author Glennon Doyle wrote:

I decided that if I kept doing the “right” thing, I would spend my life following someone else’s directions instead of my own. I don’t want to live my life without living my life.

I don’t know if it is an age thing, but that seems to be the theme I keep hearing around me lately. People are dissatisfied with their current trajectory, having lived according to society’s expectations and not from personal passion.
