The Song That Helped Me Follow My Dreams
Words for a recovering people pleaser
“If music be the food of love, play on.” – Willian Shakespeare, Twelfth Night.
The bard said it well, and we have been playing on since then. Some well-crafted lyrics and a catchy tune, and you could have the whole world dancing.
While I am not one for 24/7 listening to music, I am subjective to songs that resonate with me. From “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” (Encanto) to Kung Fu Fighting (Carl Douglas), doing chores are so much more fun.
Lively music makes it onto many of my playlists, especially the hits. For the most part, however, meaningful lyrics often fill in the void and comfort me when my own emotions lack words.
During the last decade, I find myself drawn to uplifting music. Words that encourage have become a mantra for me.
Back in 2009, when I was in the ambulance and heading to the hospital for my ABI (Acquired Brain Injury) surgery, I jokingly said that allowing a 10-year-old to programme your playlist was not the best idea.
