The Future Is Calling, And I Want To Go
Understanding what is possible when we test our creativity
I am a Trekkie.
Every week, you could find my young butt in the armchair and my eyes glued to the television set, traveling on the starship Enterprise to distant planets. I would pretend my home was a spaceship with automatic doors and a captain’s bridge. Yup. A techie nerd in the making.
I was never interested in the past. History was the one subject I could not drop fast enough when I was finally allowed to choose class subjects. I am a firm believer in the old saying, “Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” However, the thought of living life without indoor plumbing or Costco, well, just shoot me now.
This present century feels like a transition era. From the covered wagon to rocket ships, this is the time when the impossible became possible. Where space was not just up there but an actual frontier that would one day be open for exploration.
With shows like Star Trek, imaginations were stimulated, and inventors took on the challenge to turn fantasy into reality.
