The coffee maker hummed to life.

As I added more water to the Keurig, I watched the lights flutter as it warmed up. Reaching into the lower drawer, I grabbed a reusable pod, flicked open the lid, and opened up my latest purchase—a medium roast with notes of Caramel Pecan. The warm, rich smell wafting gently, seducing me to sit, stay and indulge.

I accepted that invitation.

After a splash of Salted Caramel syrup and real cream, I headed over to the table, bathed in the morning sunlight, and got ready to face my day. Hot coffee, porridge, and my iPad. Life is good.

I don’t have too many indulgences that I routinely give in to. A good cup of coffee, however, is a must. No discount cheap stuff. I can’t afford the extra pricey brands either but, budget be dammed, a good cup of coffee stirred with real cream is my little piece of heaven.

Life, as I am coming to appreciate it, is a daily balance of have-to, must-do, don’t-want-to-do, and I-wish-I-could-do. With all that I have to face each day, that little cup of coffee is the one luxury in which I choose to indulge. Yes, it may cost more, but what is the point of life if you don’t enjoy at least one thing daily that brings a smile to your face and…
