Steve Harvey once advised a guest on his popular daytime television show that in order to know if the relationship is for you, the question you need to ask is not if this is the woman you can live with, but the woman that you could not imagine your life without. If the answer is no, I could not imagine my life without her, then differences become minor negotiations that are workable.

With Valentine’s Day close at hand, young men often feel the pressure to impress their girlfriends and older couples either do the “token” dinner thing or forget all together. Romance is becoming a dying art and too many couples are forgetting why it is a necessary component to a healthy, thriving relationship.

That first spark of attraction is what got you both noticed in the first place and not long after, the dance begins. You get to know each others, find ways the be “just in the neighbourhood”, and have long conversations about nothing and everything. Soon you are a couple and you connect and start to build intimacy. Life is humming along nicely and you both are settling into your roles as a couple.
