How to hit the reset button and get your life back on tract

As a member of the human race, I am glad that I can always hit the reset button. It is that little button right next to the “dreams” and after the “actions” buttons. It reminds us that no matter how crazy life can get, we don’t have to keep struggling to survive. We have a choice and we can always begin again, change strategies or know when to quit. The old Kenny Rogers song The Gambler comes to mind, “You’ve got to know when to hold ’em, Know when to fold ’em, Know when to walk away, And know when to run.”

The reset button can be a life saver and I am planning to hit mine for the upcoming year. New Years resolutions are fine but they often don’t have holding power. They are quickly made and just as easily dismissed. They are quick solutions to temporary pain. After feasting on a Grade A Christmas dinner then seeing the thin models on TV, we resolve to loose weight for the New Year. A resolution that never makes it to February. Depressed at another failure, we seek comfort in a bucket of KFC. Weight loss and all the other great resolutions are not bad idea.

The problem comes when they are not backed by a strong, non-negotiable WHY that truly resonates with who we are and what we want. If you only want to loose weight because it is the “thing” that will make you happy then constant failure is inevitable.

True happiness comes from within and our ability to be content with who we are as we are. It is from this…
