How to find the courage to take charge of your life

At the beginning of the year, I came across The Courage To Be Disliked* by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga. The wisdom I found in those pages, set the stage for the life journey I was about to embark upon. The shear simplicity of the message challenged my thinking. Our minds are powerful things and if not wielded wisely can create a life you really don’t want.

Everthing you have ever wanted for your life is on the otherside of your thoughts. Determination, effort and hard work will bring you the results you want but the quality of your beliefs will decide how you begin. I am no philosopher but the more I practised these tips, the more courage and confidence I gained. I am doing more now by choice and not fear. Still working on the people part but my actions are in motion.

A big issue today is stuff. Lots and lots of stuff! Just look at an episode of Hoarders. Decluttering has become an art form and as homes lose the stuff, people begin to breathe. Yet how often do we look at the stuff cluttering up our mind? It is said that the average person has anywhere from 25,000–50,000 thoughts per day and about 70% of them are negative.* That is some serious stuff and like a hoarder, although most needs to go, they still want to hold on to all of it despite the negative impact on their life.

When you hang on to so much stuff, you spend way too much time just trying to arrange and move around comfortably that you rarely get…
