Are you happy or just settling?

When to listen to that little voice on your shoulder

There was an ad that played around Christmas time a while back that had a tag line which read, “Kindness: Pass It on”. I found it weird that people had to be told to be kind but I guess in the face of a “Me First” generation, it was a necessary message. We are constantly being told how to live life and define success. Parameters are continually changing as theologies evolve.

These days the push is more about using your gifts, stay motivated and become your best self. My inbox is filled with marketers each trying to convince me that they have the solution to my problems and why I should go with them.

I get it. We all have to make a living. In the end, success or failure, will all depend on whose siren call you choose to follow and how much effort you invest.

✦Is it really so bad to go after a simple life?
✦Are you really just settling if your dreams are not big?

I do not think so. Not everyone is cut out to be a mega go-getter who gets up at 5 am every day, lives for strategies and aspire for multi-million dollar companies. I am happy for those who want that dream but if that does not float your boat, it is not the sign of a less than inspiring life.
