What to do to stay sane during lockdown
While the world is busy with finding a way to curb and control the spread of COVID-19, people are starting to face another crisis other than the economic breakdown. At first, sheltering at home was something that was easily tolerable but as the weeks lengthen, to say people are getting antsy is putting it mildly. My daughter told me of some of her friends who hoped the COVID-19 threat was not over too soon as they were valuing the extra time they were getting to spend with their parents especially their dads.
While is is sad that it takes a virus for families to have more bonding time, eventually familiarity will breed contempt and we all will want a change of scenery soon. That said, the human race was not meant for long periods of social isolation. Engaging with others and the sharing of talents is what often gives a sense of purpose. What good is a talent that cannot be used to bless the lives of others.
Without that we become like that scene in The Bee Movie. Once the humans stopped taking the honey, the bees had no reason to get out to work; without work; there was no reason to pollenate the flowers; without pollination, the flowers die; when the flowers died, so did the human spirit. Similarly, we live in an eco system that thrives on the gifts and talents…
