5 steps to survive lockdown
What you can do to stay in control
There are many fantastic articles out there right now on COVID-19 and this is not going to be another one. As we currently face an uncertain future, to use the word stress, would be putting it mildly. Stress levels are through the roof from leaders who try to stay on top or get ahead of the situation to single adults who check off the high risk box. This virus does not play favourites, is highly contagious and its impact is calling for extreme measures.
With a part of the population that already suffers from chronic anxiety, depression, hypochondria, COVID-19 is the perfect storm for the already stressed mind. Negative thoughts replay every catastrophic scenario and the “what ifs” just won’t shut up. Add the frenzy of panic shopping, hoarding and mob hysteria and it’s the End of the World fear that grabs on for dear life.
On the other side, is the population that dismisses the hype. A friend of mine told me about a girl who had returned to school before the shutdowns, after she and her family had just gotten back from a holiday abroad. Rather than self isolate, the child came to school. When asked why, she nonchalantly replied that she did not feel sick. When ask, what if she got others sick, she replied “not her problem.”
